Position Summary
The West Ottawa Basketball Association (WOBA) is seeking a passionate community leader to serve as our Director, Community Partnerships & Sponsorships. This volunteer leadership role is responsible for building meaningful partnerships and creating new sponsorship and fundraising opportunities that support our athletes, strengthen our programs, and advance the long-term vision of basketball in West Ottawa.
This is more than a fundraising role. It is an opportunity to build lasting relationships with local businesses, community organizations, and philanthropic partners who share our belief in developing young people through sport.
The successful candidate will help create opportunities that enhance the experience of our athletes, expand access to basketball for more families, and support strategic initiatives, including the development of our new community gymnasium through the One-Court Alliance partnership with Everybody Growing Church.

West Ottawa Basketball Association is one of Eastern Ontario's leading basketball organizations, serving almost 1,000 athletes, from introductory programs through high-performance competition.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute WOBA's annual community partnership and sponsorship strategy.
- Build and maintain relationships with local businesses, organizations, and community leaders to secure sponsorships and strategic partnerships.
- Identify and lead sponsorship and fundraising initiatives that strengthen WOBA's programs and support strategic projects, including the One-Court Alliance community gymnasium.
- Create partnership opportunities that deliver meaningful value for both sponsors and the association.
- Collaborate with the Board and volunteers to activate sponsorships, recognize partners, and support related initiatives.
- Provide regular updates to the Board on partnership, sponsorship, and fundraising progress, opportunities, and future priorities.
Desired Qualifications
We're looking for someone who enjoys building relationships and making a positive impact. Ideal experience includes:
- Experience in sales, business development, fundraising, community relations, or a related field.
- Strong networking and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- An entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to identify opportunities and bring ideas to life.
- Passion for youth sport and strengthening the local community.
- A connection to the West Ottawa Basketball community, such as a current or former parent, coach, athlete, volunteer, or alumnus, is preferred but not required.
Previous experience in nonprofit fundraising is an asset but is not required.

Success in this role will be demonstrated by:
- Growing the number and quality of community partnerships.
- Increasing sponsorship and fundraising support for WOBA initiatives.
- Building long-term relationships with sponsors and community partners.
- Expanding opportunities that enhance the experience of WOBA athletes and families.
- Helping advance WOBA's long-term vision, including the development of the One-Court Alliance community gymnasium.
