There are still spaces available for the upcoming NCCP Coach Certification workshops that West Ottawa Basketball is hosting in June.
This is a great opportunity for you to continue to sharpen your coaching skills in alignment with the latest coaching methodologies developed by Ontario Basketball and the Coaching Association of Canada.
There are two workshops being offered:
- Learn to Train | June 4 & 5, South Carleton HS: This level focuses on learning to teach basic basketball skills, while still emphasizing fundamental movement skills in a fun, inclusive environment for athletes at the U10-U12 level. This is the foundation-level certification that coaches wishing to take subsequent levels must take first. This workshop will run all day on June 4 and 5 and include both classroom and gym components. There is prep-work and post-workshop documentation and a practice observation and evaluation component.
- Train to Train | June 17, 18 & 19, South Carleton HS: Coaches will be introduced to coaching the basic technical and strategies of “global” basketball with a more structured approach to training for athletes U13 and up. To receive the Train to Train certification, coaches must already be Learn to Train Certified. This workshop will run on the Friday evening, and all day Saturday and Sunday. As with L2T, there will be both classroom and gym components, pre- and post-workshop documentation, and practice observation and evaluation.
To register, you must go to Canada Basketball's Game Plan website and become a registered Game Plan member first. Once you register and login you will be able to view and register for these workshops. Note that West Ottawa Basketball will reimburse all active coaches (you must be committed to coaching at West Ottawa Basketball for at least the next two seasons) upon successful completion of the program. Please maintain and submit your receipt to westottawabasketball@gmail.com once you have completed the course.
