We’re excited to invite our U10 girls to free skill development sessions hosted by Heather Gordon, available exclusively to players currently registered with West Ottawa Basketball this season. These sessions are designed to complement players’ regular team experiences by providing additional opportunities for learning, growth, and confidence-building in a supportive environment.
Each session will be high-energy and development-focused, emphasizing fundamental basketball skills such as dribbling, shooting, and passing through engaging, small-sided games. This format is intentionally structured to maximize touches, encourage decision-making, and keep players actively involved throughout the session. Key areas of focus will include ball handling, finishing at the basket, defensive positioning, spacing, and overall game awareness.
The primary goal of these sessions is to help young athletes build confidence, strengthen core fundamentals, and develop a love for the game — all while keeping the experience fun, fast-paced, and age-appropriate.
With years of experience coaching within our competitive program, Heather is a highly respected and trusted coach known for fostering a positive, encouraging, and age-appropriate environment for young athletes. Her coaching style emphasizes skill development, confidence-building, and a genuine love for the game. A former player at Carleton University, Heather brings strong technical knowledge along with valuable insight from her perspective as a basketball parent. All four of her daughters have played with West Ottawa Basketball, with three now competing on Ottawa Capitals JUEL teams. Her youngest daughter is currently part of our U10 Rec program, giving Heather a unique and well-rounded connection to players at every stage of development.
