From West Ottawa to New Horizons: Honoring Our Athletes' Next Chapter

At West Ottawa Basketball, our mission is simple: develop players, build character and remain deeply rooted in our community. That commitment guides every practice, every game, and every season.
Our college and university-bound athletes are a powerful reflection of this philosophy in action. Through disciplined training, perseverance, and a team-first mindset, they have grown not only in skill, but in leadership, resilience and integrity. Their success is not defined solely by the level they have reached, but by the work ethic and character they have demonstrated along the way.
The foundation of their achievement was built here — in our gyms, alongside dedicated coaches, supportive teammates and families who believe in the value of sport as a vehicle for growth. West Ottawa Basketball is more than a program; it is a community that challenges athletes to improve, supports them through adversity and prepares them for opportunities beyond the game.
As they take the next step in their journey, they carry with them the lessons, standards and pride of the West Ottawa Basketball Association. We celebrate their accomplishments and look forward to watching them continue to represent our community with excellence at the next level.

WHAT PLAYERS ARE SAYING...

Zoey-Anna Hemeon
Zoey-Anna played with West Ottawa Basketball Association from age 7 to age 15 and then moved on to Ottawa Capitals JUEL.
"Every time I step on the court, I carry with me the little girl who first played for the West Ottawa Hornets. That's where I built my confidence and developed my competitive side. It also instilled in me a deep sense of community and a desire to keep growing. I'm incredibly grateful for the teammates and coaches who supported me in those early years and beyond. Their friendship and guidance have shaped who I am today, both as a player and as a person.

Chelsea Hemeon
Chelsea played with West Ottawa Basketball Association from age 5 to age 14 and then moved on to Ottawa Capitals JUEL.
"With West Ottawa, I was always surrounded by passionate and knowledgeable coaches who built the foundation of my basketball understanding. It taught me the value of hard work and commitment. The friendships I formed there have lasted to this day and continue to mean so much to me."

Cid Ruhamyandekwe
Cid played with West Ottawa Basketball from 2017-2023 before committing to the Ottawa Gee Gees upon graduation. Cid also went on to play post-secondary basketball at St. Lawrence College.
"West Ottawa played a huge role in shaping me-not only as a basketball player, but as a person. The growth I experienced off the court with my teammates was just as important as what I was accomplishing on the court.  I never felt pressured to play a certain way; the West Ottawa organization was always there to guide me, support me and help me find my identity. And it paid off."
