A Message From The GBA

Hello GBA families.
We wanted to give you an update on where we are now with our season.
For our recreational program, the EOBA and WEBL have advised that there will be no games this season
between teams in the various clubs. Should the situation with COVID move in a positive direction, clubs may be able to run their own recreational program but WEBL will not be scheduling any league games this year.For our competitive program, Ontario Basketball has postponed the season until January and has a tentative schedule for beginning game play then.
The GBA depends on gym time from our area schools and that is not available to us at this time. School Boards have advised us that they will look at requests again at the end of December and assess the situation at that time. Consequently, the GBA has had to seek out alternative facility rentals which too, are extremely scarce during these trying times. The limited time that we have been able to secure has been used to create training pods for our competitive players in getting them ready for potential competition in January. We will be looking to January to see if we are able to get the necessary gym time to have both our competitive and recreational programs running. Please note that if a recreational program is possible, it will be very different from years past.
It is a tough year for sports. As an association who wants to see our players back on the court and our families and coaches back in the gyms, we are saddened by the effects COVID has had on the sport we love but remain hopeful that in time, we will be back!
Until we can be back in the gyms, please continue to practice and do some conditioning to stay active and healthy! Coach Mark will continue to send the weekly Tips and Drills so look for them in your inbox! We miss all of you and look forward to being together again!
